SMARTGUARD – Single-Phase Backup Box Huawei

The new Huawei SmartGuard is designed to handle power outages in residential buildings. The Huawei backup solution consists of photovoltaic strings, Huawei Smart String ESS energy storage, single-phase Huawei inverters, SmartGuard, the grid, and primary loads.

SmartGuard controls inverter operation under both normal grid conditions and unstable grid scenarios. Its main function is to seamlessly switch the inverter between grid-connected (on-grid) and off-grid operation.
When the grid is available, the inverter operates in on-grid mode and supplies both primary and secondary loads. In the event of a power outage, the inverter quickly switches to off-grid mode and supplies only backup loads until the grid is restored.

The SmartGuard-63A-S0 is equipped with EMMA, Huawei’s Energy Management Assistant, to optimize backup performance and enable intelligent load management. Integration of smart loads such as Huawei smart chargers, SG Ready heat pumps, and smart switches further enhances system functionality.

When combined with the SUN2000-8/10K-LC0, the system can deliver 8 kW or 10 kW of off-grid power and supports preparation of the ESS initial state of charge (SOC) using a maximum grid charging power of 5 kW.
